Now I will admit that usually alternative meds are about as reliable as same day loans in the long term of thing and we should probably just work harder and get the real deal. At the same time and in pretty much the same day, I find it hard to avoid both. My recent forary has been with Acupunture and so far it has been great if not a bit pricey. Since my teenage years I have been dogged by creaky ankles as the result of old football injuries and what started as a general ache and pain has over the years developed into a full on crippling ailment. However since taking up regular acupuncture I have noticed a big difference in the pain. I mean it hasn’t completely subsided but it’s definitely a lot better. I will keep you informed of my progress. Image: heathbar
Picking up wild mushrooms is one activity why I look forward to Autumn; otherwise,to be honest, I don't particularly love the season as such. In fact, I find the damp and chilly weather really sad and depressing. Autumn is the season when the woods and the meadows fill up with varied wild mushrooms that taste like heaven. As I live by the countryside, I always make it a point to go out for a walk with a bag or a basket. Last week, I came back with at least four kilos of penny buns also known as ceps. Now I have close to 10 jars of mushrooms preserved in my kitchen -- quite a treat! For those who aren't very experienced at this, do remember that it is quite important to watch what you pick; there are several poisonous varieties of mushrooms growing out there. Stay away from species such as the devil's bolete, the destroying angel, the sickener, and the poison pie as they get their names for a very good reason.
Being green requires a number of changes in almost everything you do. For example, I bet you would have never given a thought to how weddings are becoming more and more carbon intensive. Scientists say that greening your wedding could bring you and the climate a lot of good fortune. Did you know that Liz Hurley's week long international wedding celebrations emitted as much CO2 in just a week as it would take 123 years for an Indian couple to emit. Studies have also shown that an average British wedding emits more CO2 than ten return flights to Thailand. Alarming, isn't it? A great place to start would be eating local, flying less, opting for seasonal food, and dressing smarter. You definitely will have to avoid the many cars, flights, and of course the bride's insistence to have some exotic fruit transported from half way around the world as they can be very expensive -- not just for the person paying for it, but the climate too.
