I'm a bit come and go when it comes to fashion. I've worked in fashion and with fashionistas, but I think rather than following fashion like a sheep, you should interpret it and see how you can work it into your own fashion style. That's what I do anyway. I'm quite fussy with clothes, and I wear quite unusual rocky things. I never thought I'd wear designer clothes, but I've actually picked up some great items that complement my style perfectly. I'm always on the look out for new British designers too, so I can stay ahead of the game. I don't like wearing what's in style when it ends up in every high street store, I like getting there just before it gets big. I wear a very eclectic mix. It's the way to be! Don't be a slave to fashion, let it be a slave to you and your personal style! Photo: Helga Weber (Flickr)
Just had a lovely stroll through Dulwich Park on my lunch break, it's definitely one of my favourite places to go and clear my head, or just soak up the weather and the loveliness. There's a great little pond bit in the middle with loads of plant life and there are loads of lovely dogs being walked around. You can rent bikes there too - I've always wanted to but never done it, it looks like fun. They have all different types and the park itself has a great track to cycle around. I usually go there for a walk or to sit and read, and I try to sit on a different one of their and read who they're dedicated to. Maybe when I'm old I can ask my kids to put a memorial for me there! This unseasonably gorgeous weather has seen me wearing my whole summer wardrobe in a matter of weeks! Lucky for me, ASOS are having a huge mid-season sale that I've just spent possibly too much in... But how lovely is this dress? And only £28 from £50! Not a bad price, except I've ordered seven different dresses - I couldn't help myself! I've been saving loads by cycling to and from work instead of paying transport fares, and I saved a pretty penny by using one of those sites where you compare gas and electricity prices, I didn't save thousands but I saved enough to not feel too guilty about this spend. I can't wait to wear them around town, little summer dresses are so perfect for keeping cool in summer. But with the Royal Wedding and Mayday bank holiday weekend it'll probably be a while before they arrive. I'll be waiting eagerly! Photo: ASOS
It is very strange trying to explain to your Grandparents what 3D is! My Grandma asked about it the other day saying: ‘Why do people wear them silly glasses?!’ My response: ‘So you can see everything like objects on the screen Grandma’. And of course she did not understand that! So she has now made me try anf find a good 3D film to take her to so she can experience what all the fuss is about. It will be like her very own 3d tutorial! The only problem is the only 3D film I can see that is out at the moment is Rio and I can’t see my Grandma enjoying that! So if anyone has any suggestions of a 3D suitable film for a 79-year old Grandma let me know! Picture: glassesfree3dtv.com
A friend of mine has just started yoga classes and asked me about my first yoga experience, as she found it pretty hard. I’ve been practicing yoga for four years now and absolutely love it, but in the beginning this certainly wasn’t the case! I had a relatively good fitness level when I first started, but my muscles were so tightly wound that my first class was agony – almost every move hurt! I was reckless and overconfident and really over stretched myself in that class, I was hobbling around for days after, begging for a stairlift to take me the few steps up to my office at work! But I stuck with it, slowed down to a reasonable pace and saw myself ease up and really reap the benefits of it over time. So if you’re starting yoga as a beginner, don’t overdo it – go at your own pace, push yourself to your own limits (not past them!) and soon enough you’ll really feel a difference.
